These instructions cover installation of the MVS/TSO component. All of the required files are expected to be present in an AIX directory. MVS/TSO INSTALLATION 1. You must logon to your TSO id and allocate a partitioned file to contain the onhost commands. To do this you may follow these steps; If you have the prompt "***" at the bottom of your screen, press your enter key to go to the next screen. If you have the prompt "READY" as the last thing on your screen, enter the command "ISPF". If you have an ISPF menu (It should say so somewhere on the screen) you can proceed to step 2. If you have some other screen, you might try pressing the clear screen key. If that presents you with new prompts try entering the command "END". If you still do not have the "READY" prompt above, ask for help on getting to ISPF, then start at step 2. 2. The partitioned file you are going to allocate must be compatible with other CLIST files already on your system. To identify these files, select screen 6, and enter on that screen the following command; COMMAND ==> lista status sysnames You will be presented with a list of file names and DDnames. Press enter at the "***" prompt, until you see the DDname SYSPROC. Copy the file name from the line above the DDname and continue to press enter until you are presented with the command entry screen again. 3. To gather the attribute information on this file, enter the following command; COMMAND ==> =3.2 You will be presented with a screen with a prompt about half way down where you will enter the file name surrounded by single quotes; OTHER PARTITIONED OR SEQUENTIAL DATA SET: DATA SET NAME ===> 'SYS1.CMDPROC...' (press enter) You will now be presented with a screen containing information about the file which ISPF will remember for you. Pressing PF3 should return you the the screen above. Now enter the name of the file you want to allocate and select the allocate option by; OPTION ==> A (for allocate, press enter) OTHER PARTITIONED OR SEQUENTIAL DATA SET: DATA SET NAME ===> 'SYS1.ONHOST.TSOEXEC' You will now get a screen showing you all the things remembered by ISPF. Press enter again. You should get a message in the upper right of the next screen indicating DATASET ALLOCATED. If not try again changing the name of the dataset to one that begins with your userid. If you still do not get confirmation that the file is allocated, try removing the volume id on the second screen by positioning the cursor on the field and spacing out the old one. If allocation still fails, seek help. If the file is allocated, you should exit ISPF (=x command). 4. Move the *.tso files to TSO and install them in a PDS. You might begin a dialogue with FTP to transfer the REXX programs to the TSO environment; FTP Check for the response as before; COMMAND FTP NOT FOUND login id - to login to AIX system password CD working directory - to where onhost resides - to allocate to your file above MGET *.tso - should load members to PDS QUIT - to close the connection and exit 5. Install the Onhost commands for your TSO id by logging on and entering the following command; CONCATD DA('sys1.onhost.tsoexec') F(SYSPROC) SHR WHERE: sys1.onhost.tsoexec is the name of the PDS that contains the onhost commands. 6. Execute the following command; ONHOSTLD If the response is; RetCode:00000000; OnHost End of Command Flag all is well, so far, and continue to the next step If the response is simply; READY (With no end of command flag) you probably have the prototype REXX installed, which will not work with onhost. However, If the response tells you that REXX is not available then you either don't have the needed REXX interpreter on your system or it may have been improperly installed. You should contact your systems programmer, since REXX must be available for Onhost to work. 7. Execute the following command; ONHOST DATE The reply should be something like; Tue Aug 30 15:15:35 PDT 1988 RetCode:00000000; OnHost End of Command Flag if this is so, then Onhost should function correctly on your system. Now try a few other commands to be sure. ONHOST WHO :should give you a list of TSO users followed by RetCode:00000000; OnHost End of Command Flag ONHOST LS -L :should give you a list of files followed by RetCode:00000000; OnHost End of Command Flag 8. Evaluate the following to see if you need to customize the REXX code contained in onhost.tso; a. Timezone is set to the Pacific time zones (PDT & PST) and the cutover dates (from & to Daylight Savings Time) are entered for fall 1988 and spring 1989. You may need to modify to support your local timezone. b. Offline files are identified by a hex code that may vary from one site to another. You can identify these codes in an IDCAMS catalog listing. Scan the REXX onhost code for the word "offline" to locate the area of the needed change. c. Disk file space calculations are based upon a 3380 disk drive. If you have other drives, you will need to customize the Onhost REXX code near every occurrence of the number 47476. d. If your users are transferring large files (as opposed to small source files) you may wish to change the DEFAULT space allocation found at the beginning of the onhost exec. 9. To make Onhost available to other users, concatenate the following JCL statement in the logon procedure to be used users of onhost; //SYSPROC DD DSN=sys1.onhost.tsoexec,DISP=SHR WHERE: sys1.onhost.tsoexec is the name of the PDS you created. or Add the following command to a CLIST that will be executed upon logon to TSO by selected users who need access to Onhost. CONCATD DA('sys1.onhost.tsoexec') F(SYSPROC) SHR 10. This completes installation of the MVS/TSO onhost component.
