I.Overview
The Korean Unicode Input Method is a new function for the release of the AIX version 4 Release 3 operating system.
This Input Method treats alphabetic characters, Hangeul 11,172 characters, Hanja(Chinese character) 7,744 characters, and symbols.
Korean Input Method features the following characteristics.
  1. Compound consonants and compound vowel can be input as one character.
  2. Half-width and full-width character input supports ASCII characters in both single-byte and double byte modes.
  3. Special characters can be input by conversion from JAMO or code input function.

II. Available Character Sets
   1. ASCII(English)
   
   2. Hangeul
	1)Hangeul Jamo
	  Hangeul compatibility Jamo code area: U+3130 - U+318F (94 characters)

	2)Hangeul Syllables
	  Code area: U+AC00 - U+D7A3 (11,172 characters)

   3. Hanja (7,744 characters)
	1) CJK Unified Ideographs
	   Category K0 : 4,620 characters
	   Category K1 : 2,856 characters

	2) CJK Compatibility
	   Code area : U+F900 - U+FA0B (268 characters)

   4. Special Characters
      about one thousand special characters in KS'X'1005-1:1995.

III. Input Method
   1. Hangeul
	Korean Hangeul may be considered to be a syllabic script. The syllables are formed from a set of alphabetic components called Jamo in a regular fashion. It can be categorized into 16 types of written symbols like follows.
	1) One consonant
	2) Compound consonant
	3) One consonant and vowel
	4) One consonant and compound vowel
	5) Consonant, vowel and consonant
	6) Consonant, vowel and compound consonant
	7) Consonant, compound vowel and consonant
	8) Consonant, compound vowel and compound consonant
	9) Compound consonant and vowel
	10) Compound consonant and compound vowel
	11) Compound consonant, vowel and consonant
	12) Compound consonant, vowel and compound consonant
	13) Compound consonant, compound vowel and consonant
	14) Compound consonant, compound vowel and compound consonant
	15) One vowel
	16) One compound vowel 

	To input Hangeul, 
	1) Press the XK_Hangeul key, which invokes Hangeul mode.
	2) Input consonants or vowels according to Hangeul composition rules mentioned above. 

   2. English String 
	1) Input English string in ASCII mode
	2) English character can be entered by Code Input method.

   3. Hanja
	1) Invoke Hangeul mode with XK_Hangeul key.
	2) Input Hangeul and press XK_Hangeul_Hanja key, then possible Hanja choices will be displayed .When you use 101 keyboard, press right Alt key as for XK_Hangeul_Hanja key.
	* Note: XK_Hangeul_Hanja key fucnction is not available in ASCII mode.
	3) Press XK_Hangeul_Hanja key, then possible Hanja choices will be displayed .
	4) Choose appropriate Hanja among the list.
	5) Hanja can be entered with the Code Input function in the same manner used for entering Hangeul and English String.
  
   4. Code Input
        1) Invoke Code Input mode by pressing Ctrl +  XK_Hangeul_Codeinput key in ASCII mode. If you are using 101 keyboard, invoke code input mode by pressing Ctrl + right Alt key.
	2) Input code point for a desired character in the Code Input window.
	3) Press enter key
	4) With this method, Hangeul, Hanja, English, Special Characters can be entered.
	   for example: to input Hangeul Jamo (U+3131), follow the step of below
			a. Invoke ASCII mode.
			b. Invoke codeinput box by pressing Ctrl + XK_Hangeul_Codeinput key.
			c. Input 3131 for (U+3131) and press enter
			d. (U+3131) will be displayed.


IV. Settings 
   1. setting KO_KR environment 
	A user can be executing in the KO_KR locale environment by export LANG command like follows.
	1) input '#export LANG=KO_KR'in dtterm
	2) invoke new dtterm by the input '#dtterm &'. 

   2. setting full & half width mode.
	1) 101 keyboard type: press alt + +(plus) key  
	2) 106 keyboard type: press Ctrl + XK_Hangeul key
