Previewing the NLT File

The information about each component (language, territory, character set, and linguistic sort) of a locale definition is stored in a binary file whose name contains the .nlb suffix. This binary file is the NLB file. Each NLB file has a corresponding text file in XML format whose name contains the .nlt suffix. This text file is the NLT file.

You can view the NLT file by clicking the Preview NLT tab. You cannot edit the NLT file directly, but you can check whether changes you have made are reflected in it. For example, if you have created a new language definition by changing the writing direction and saving the change, you can see whether the change is reflected in the NLT file.

NOTE: The Preview NLT tab is not available for Unicode character sets because you are not allowed to customize Unicode character sets.

When you have completed new definitions for a language, territory, character set, or linguistic sort, you must generate new NLB files from the NLT files.
