Add an Instance to an Oracle Real Application Clusters Database

If needed, edit the name for the new instance that Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) provides, and select the node on which you want to add the new instance.

DBCA displays all the nodes on which the selected database does not have an instance.

If DBCA does not display all the nodes that you expect, then perform cluster diagnostics by executing the olsnodes -v command. Analyze the output from this command as follows based on your operating system.

On UNIX or Linux, the olsnodes -v command is in the $ORACLE_CRS_HOME/bin directory. Refer to your vendor's clusterware documentation if the output indicates that your clusterware is not properly installed.

On Windows, the olsnodes -v command is in the %ORACLE_CRS_HOME%\bin directory. Refer to your clusterware documentation if the detailed output indicates that your clusterware is not running.
