Mulitplexing your redo logs and controls files involves placing your redo and control logs in multiple locations. If one location fails, the redo logs and controls files from the other locations remain available for disaster recovery operations.
Oracle recommends that you specify at least two redo log and control file destinations. For example:
/u02/oradata
/u03/oradata
In this example, the redo logs and controls files will be stored on both the u02 disk and on the u03 disk. If the u02 disk fails, the copies saved on the u03 disk remain available. For more information on mulitplexing redo logs and control files when using Oracle Managed-Files, see the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide.
