The Automatic Storage Management (ASM) system privileges (SYS) is called SYSASM, to distinguish it from the SYS privileges for database administration. The ASMSNMP privilege has a subset of SYS privileges.
Specify passwords for the SYSASM user and ASMSNMP user to grant access to administer the ASM storage tier. You can use different passwords for each account, to create role-based system privileges, or you can use the same password for each set of system privileges.
The passwords that you choose should be secure ones. Apply the following guidelines when specifying passwords:
Passwords must be between 8 and 30 characters long.
Passwords must not start with a numeral.
Passwords must not be the same as the user name.
Passwords must not be Oracle reserved words.
The SYSASM account password must not be change_on_install.
If you choose to use the same password for all the accounts, then that password must not be change_on_install, manager, sysman, or dbsnmp.
Passwords should have at least 1 alphabetic, 1 numeric, and 1 punctuation mark character, and can include hyphens (-) or underscores (_).
Passwords should not be simple or obvious words, such as welcome, account, database, or user.
