Before installing Grid Infrastucture, two key tasks should be performed.
  1. Network Configuration
For production environments, Oracle recommends several entries in DNS be modified to support client connections to the cluster and to enable failover of cluster-specific network resources. These network configuration changes typically require the services of a network administrator.

Oracle has supplied a network configuration template that a network administrator can fill out once the DNS changes are made. This template can then be imported into the installer to configure Clusterware with these network configuration details. See the Clusterware installation guide for more details on network configuration requirements and on the Oracle supplied template that can be used to drive Oracle Clusterware configuration parameters.

    Import network configuration from file
Note: Clusterware network configuration parameters can be specified on subsequent screens if you choose not to import from a file now.

  2. Storage Configuration
Oracle Clusterware and RAC require that shared storage be allocated for storing clusteware metadata and database files. See the Storage Administrator's Guide for more details.
