Working with Management Agent Patches

Use Enterprise Manager to apply Oracle Management Agent patches and patchsets that are available at the OracleMetaLink Web site.

To apply a Management Agent patch, run the Enterprise Manager Patching wizard specifying the patch and the host Agents to which you want to apply the patch. Enterprise Manager downloads the patch from the OracleMetaLink Web site, caching it in the Management Repository patch cache. It then applies the patch at each designated host. Enterprise Manager can apply a Management Agent patch on any host that has a Management Agent is running.

Important: You must specify your OracleMetaLink credentials before you can use the Patching wizard. See Specifying Patching Credentials for more information.

Use one of the following methods to start the process of applying a Management Agent patch using the Enterprise Manager Patching wizard:

After the Patch wizard launches, it leads you step-by-step through the patching process. You can click Help at any step in the process to learn more about that step.

Note that when you select an Oracle Management Agent patch (which has a target type of Agent) on the Stage or Apply page of the Patching wizard, the Apply Patch option is enabled by default. Enterprise Manager can automatically apply Management Agent patches on the host or hosts you select.

Manually Adding a Management Agent Patch to the Patch Cache

In some cases, you may want to manually add a Management Agent patch to the Enterprise Manager patch cache. For example, a Management Agent patch may have been previously downloaded from OracleMetaLink without using Enterprise Manager, but now you want to use Enterprise Manager to apply that patch to various hosts. Or, you want to apply the patch on one or more hosts, but you know you will not have access to OracleMetaLink when you are ready to apply the patch (because you will be performing the patching operation at a site that does not have Internet access). In either of these situations, you must first upload the Management Agent patch to the patch cache before Enterprise Manager can be used to apply the patch. To upload the patch to the patch cache, follow these steps:

  1. On the Deployments page, click View Patch Cache.

  2. On the Patch Cache page, click Upload Patch File.

  3. On the Add Patch File to Patch Cache page, enter the name of the Management Agent patch file in the Patch File field.

  4. The information for the Management Agent patch must be entered in the fields appropriate in the Patch Attributes section:
