one-off patch
A one-off patch is an interim patch that is:
Available for downloading from OracleMetaLink as an individual patch (it is not included in a patch set).
Installed using a separate script supplied with the patch (it is not installed using OPatch).
Used for older versions of Oracle products such as Oracle Database Server release 9.0.1.x and earlier.
Not detected by Enterprise Manager after it is applied, and is not reported in the Enterprise Manager user interface.
The version number of the patched product is not updated when a one-off patch is applied. Multiple one-off patches can be installed for a given version of a product.
A one-off patch is a bug fix or set of bug fixes made available to customers who for business reasons cannot wait until the next patch set or new product release to get a fix.
One-off patches have been replaced by interim patches applied by OPatch for newer releases of Oracle products.
