About Critical Patch Facility

The Critical Patch Facility (CPF) in Enterprise Manager automates the discovery, tracking and scheduling of software patches.

Prior to Oracle 10g Enterprise Manager, users were required to identify the Oracle versions that needed upgrades, and request the relevant patches via Oracle Support, and download them from OracleMetaLink. CPFdetects the possible vulnerabilities in an enterprise, and notifies the users of the available patches, based on the various Oracle versions and the platforms that they are running on, in the enterprise. CPF is pro-actively integrated with Oracle Metalink that enables users to download and apply the required patches.

The CPF provides a list of critical patch advisories, along with the number of affected Oracle homes corresponding to each advisory. This feature also helps you to view details of the affected homes, as well as the remedies that are available to fix these homes.
