This topic explains privileges for System targets, rather than global privileges for an entire system. Privileges for a System target enable you to perform operations on the System within Enterprise Manager. When you create a System, you become its owner, so you automatically receive full privileges for the System and view on all targets.
Certain privileges are automatically given to administrators based on other privileges. For example, granting any privileges on a target automatically grants the View target privilege on the host.
Privileges for System targets are as follows:
| Enterprise Manager Privilege for System Targets |
Description |
| View Target |
Enables you to:
The View Target privilege automatically propagates to all components of the System, including any subsystems added to the System. For example, if you have view privileges on System G and a new DB1 database is added to the System, even if you don't have view privileges on the DB1 database target directly, you can see DB1 because the view privilege on System G automatically extends to all its member targets. |
| Operator Target | Enables you to:
The Operator Target privilege does not automatically propagate to members of the System. For example, if you want to black out a System and all its components, you would need Operator Target privileges on the System itself, and also be granted Operator privileges explicitly on each of the components targets. |
| Full Target | Enables you to perform all tasks granted for Operator Target privileges, plus the ability to delete the System. Deleting the System does not delete the components of the System from Enterprise Manager. |
