The report shows the metric values collected by each beacon for all the service tests defined against a service. The metric data shown is an aggregate of all the samples collected by each beacon over a time period. That would mean only numeric metric values are displayed. And Status (Availability) metrics are also not shown, as they cannot be aggregated. When displaying metrics, usually all numeric metrics are displayed excepting the Web Transaction test type where only select few metrics are displayed. Additionally Web Transaction type of tests have a child report, in form of a link on test name, which allow the user to see the Transaction performance details for the test.
Metric data is tabulated for each test type. Each test type table shows all the tests of the same test type. Each row of table contains the test name, beacon name and all the metrics collected by the beacon for the test.
If the same test name data is repeated for a different beacon, the test name column is shown as blank in the consecutive row for 2 reasons. Firstly since the data is sorted by test name, the consecutive rows corresponding to other beacons would be for the same test. To make the presentation look not cluttered, the test name is avoided. This is the case when the user is viewing the Test Summary data by test name. If the user opted Test Summary data by beacon the first column in the table would be beacon name and the second column would be the test name and the same display pattern, as for Test Summary by tests, is followed for displaying repeated beacon names for multiple tests.
The Information Publisher provides two out of box reports.
Service Tests Summary By Beacon: This displays metric data for all the tests defined for a service. The report data is presented as mentioned in the above paragraphs. Here the metric data for each test is displayed sorted by test name against each beacon.
Information Publisher provides single report element for service test as well, that allows you to customize the above reports yourself. For example: you can choose the metrics collected for key tests or key beacons instead of all tests and all beacons.
Note: Service type here is either web application or a generic service.
