Performance denotes the response time of the service as experienced by the end-users. The performance of the service can be defined based on the following:
Response metrics collected by the beacons executing the service tests. You can set critical and warning thresholds on the service performance. You can calculate the maximum, minimum and average response data across two or more key beacons. This is useful in identifying beacon locations which have slow performance. For example, you can monitor the time taken to login to an online book store from San Francisco, Denver and London, time taken to browse the catalog and make a purchase etc.
Performance metrics of the underlying system components that host the service. You can calculate the maximum, minimum and average value across all components. For example, you can monitor average CPU utilization, memory utilization, disk I/O utilization etc.
When the service performance is poor, the availability of the service may be affected. It is possible to have multiple response time measurements if the service access involves multiple steps or the service provides multiple business functions.
