Defining Component Tests

Enterprise Manager Grid Control allows you to define tests on key components of the system on which your service resides. These tests help to determine potential root causes of service failure when running Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Component tests are based on collected metric information and the thresholds you set for that metric.

To define a component test:

  1. From the Service Home page, click Monitoring Configuration.

  2. From the Monitoring Configuration page, click Root Cause Analysis Configuration.

  3. From the Root Cause Analysis Configuration page, click the link in the Component Tests column of the table for the key component you want to test.

  4. On the Component Tests page, click Add to create a new component test. Click Help for more information.

To define a component host test, which allows you to define a test for the host of that key component, click Tests on the Component Tests page.
