Creating and Editing Jobs

When creating a job, you define both the job and its schedule. Setting the schedule is optional: If you do not set the job schedule and click OK, the job will be executed immediately. Use the scheduling feature to create jobs that you want to run periodically or at a designated time.

To create a new job or edit an existing job, do the following:

  1. Click the Jobs tab. Enterprise Manager displays the Job Activity page. You can also access the job system through links provided on many Enterprise Manager pages. Note that the jobs displayed may depend on the link you clicked; for instance, if you click a link from a particular home page, the list will be filtered for that target and certain job statuses.

  2. On the Job Activity page, select a job type from the Create Job drop-down list and click Go.

This will take you to the Create Job page where you can define the new job of that type.

If you would like the job you are defining to be available to other users for sharing and re-use, store the job in the job library by clicking Save to Library after specifying the job definition parameters.

  3. Or, select a job and click Edit to modify an existing job's schedule.

    For more information, click Help.

Note: Jobs may be created from the Job Activity page or from other pages of Enterprise Manager. For example, while Database jobs are created from the Database Console, they can be viewed and managed on the Job Activity page. For more information about job types, see About Job Types.

For more information about creating jobs that run inside the database itself, see the "Creating Jobs" section in the Using the Scheduler chapter of the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide.

For more information on creating patch jobs, see About Patching. For clone jobs, see About Cloning.
