About Job Types

Enterprise Manager lets you define jobs of different types that can be executed using the Enterprise Manager job system. These different types of jobs assist you in automating common tasks. For a basic introduction to jobs, see About Jobs.

A job can be created on the Job Activity page, Job Library page, and on other Enterprise Manager pages.

The following table shows some of the Enterprise Manager job types, their purpose, and at least one of the pages where the job type can be defined.

Note: The job types listed also apply to corrective action tasks.

Backup	Backs up a database	Database Maintenance page
Backup Management	Performs management functions such as crosschecks and deletions on selected backup copies, backup sets, or files.	Database Maintenance page
CloneHome	Clones an Oracle Home directory	Job Activity page, Job Library page, and Deployments page
DBClone	Clones an Oracle database instance	Deployments page
DBConfig	Configure monitoring for database releases prior to 10g. This job runs as an immediate job.	Database home page
Export	Exports database contents, objects within user's schemas, and tables.	Database Maintenance page
GatherStats	Generate and modify optimizer statistics	Database Maintenance page
OSCommand	Runs an operating system command or script	Job Activity page and Job Library page
HostComparison	Compares the configurations of multiple hosts	Deployments page
Import	Imports the content of objects and tables.	Database Maintenance page
Load	Loads data from a non-Oracle database into an Oracle database	Database Maintenance page
Move Occupant	Moves occupants of the SYSAUX tablespace to another tablespace	Tablespace Occupants page
Patch	Patches an Oracle product	Job Activity page, Job Library page, and Deployments page
Recovery	Restores or recovers a database, tablespaces, datafiles, or archived logs.	Database Maintenance page
RefreshFromMetalink	Allows Enterprise Manager to download patches and critical patch advisory information from the OracleMetaLink support site	Job Activity page, Job Library page, and Patching Setup page
Reorganize	Rebuilds fragmented database indexes or tables, moves objects to a different tablespace, or optimizes the storage attributes of specified objects	Database Maintenance page

SQLScript	Runs a SQL or PL/SQL script	Job Activity page and Job Library page
