Enterprise Manager contains self-monitoring capabilities that ensure its own critical components are available and functional.
After installation, the Oracle Management Agent starts monitoring itself, the host it is installed on, and any databases, listeners and Oracle Application Server servers that are also installed on the same host computer. This process is called autodiscovery.
During the install of the Management Repository, two targets are created that help with monitoring the overall health of Enterprise Manager. These are the Enterprise Manager Website and the OMS and Repository.
Enterprise Manager is able to monitor its own performance, detect critical errors, and send notifications to administrators.
To monitor the overall health of Enterprise Manager, click the Setup tab from the Enterprise Manager Console.
An Enterprise Manager status overview appears which includes details about the Management Repository database, the host on which the Management Repository resides, the OMS & Repository target type, and the Oracle Management Agent.
Note: Not all administrators have access to the Setup tab. See About Privileges for Accessing the Setup Tab for more information.
