About the Management Repository

The Management Repository is two or more tablespaces in an Oracle database and contains centralized management information about all administrators, targets, and applications that are managed within Enterprise Manager.

At periodic intervals, the Oracle Management Agent software on each monitored host transfers monitoring information about its targets to the Management Service. The Management Service uploads monitoring information to the Management Repository.

This information is organized by the Management Repository so that it can be retrieved quickly and efficiently by the Management Service and displayed in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Console. Any alert which needs to be generated is sent immediately.

Since data is stored in the Management Repository, it can be shared between any number of administrators accessing Enterprise Manager that point to the Management Repository. For information on how long the data is stored and how to purge it, refer to the Oracle Enterprise Manager Advanced Configuration manual.

Oracle Enterprise Manager offers self-monitoring of the Management Repository "out-of-box."

For conceptual information about Enterprise Manager, see the Oracle Enterprise Manager Concepts Manual.
