About the Management Service

The Oracle Management Service (OMS) is a web application deployed on an instance of Oracle Application Server J2EE and Web Cache 9.0.3. The key components in the Oracle Management Service include the loader and the job dispatcher.

The Oracle Management Service

The Management Service receives management data from the Oracle Management Agent software running on each managed host.

The Loader processes the incoming data and updates the Management Repository. The Job Dispatcher delegates and schedules job tasks among the different Oracle Management Agents.

The Management Service retrieves the management data from the Management Repository and formats and displays the data in the web browser.

Multiple Management Services are supported in Oracle Enterprise Manager 4.0. Failover and load balancing of the Management Services is not automatic. To provide failover and load balancing capabilities, you can install and configure a Server Load Balancer (SLB) that all Management Services and all Oracle Management Agents would point to.
