You may want to remove a target for the following reasons:
The target has been deinstalled from host computer. For example, the database has been deinstalled.
The target is not in use.
Target is in use but you not want to monitor it anymore.
Removing a target stops the Oracle Management Agent from monitoring it and removes all of the target's historical collection data. The benefits of removing a target is that the target and its data no longer appear in the Console and the Management Repository no longer contains old data belonging to the target.
More information on targets is available at About Targets.
To remove a target:
From the Enterprise Manager Grid Control Console, click the Targets tab.
Click the appropriate target subtab. Each subtab is filtered. For example, the Databases subtab will only let you remove databases.
Select the target and click Remove.
To remove a target:
From the Enterprise Manager Console, click Setup.
Note: Only certain privileged Enterprise Manager administrators will have access to full setup functionality. See About Privileges for Accessing the Management System Tab for more information.
Click the Agents subtab to display a list of Oracle Management Agents installed in your enterprise.
Select the Oracle Management Agent that is on the same machine where your targets reside.
Within the Monitored Targets section of the Oracle Management Agent Homepage that is presented, select the target, and click Remove.
Click Help for more information on targets.
When removing targets (including Management Agents) from hosts, Oracle recommends that you adhere to the following guidelines:
For targets with dependencies, you should remove the hub target. For example if you want to delete an Oracle Application Server and its component targets, you should remove the Application Server.
When removing a Management Agent and the host on which it resides, you must first shut down the Management Agent and then remove the host. Removing the host also deletes the Management Agent.
