The Unknown Availability page provides a quick glimpse of all the targets whose availability cannot be determined in your Enterprise Manager environment. This page provides a good starting point for analyzing the cause of the problem.
On the Unknown Availability page, you can:
Scan each of the targets whose availability cannot be determined. A target may be unavailable because of network problems, problems with the host or Management Agent monitoring the target, or metric errors associated with calculating the target's availability. The message on the page states why the target is unavailable.
Acknowledge an alert, thus indicating that an administrator has looked at the alert. Acknowledging an alert stops all further notifications for the alert and also stops repeat e-mail notifications, if enabled.
Access overview information provided on the target's home page by clicking the name of the target.
Access status and availability information about the target by clicking the message. By way of the target's Availability page, you can view the overall availability history of the target.
Some targets provide the option of restarting the target by way of the target's home page. For example, depending on why the database is unavailable, you can change the status of the database by clicking Startup on the database home page and providing the needed information.
Other targets can be started by linking to the Administer link on the target's home page.
To acknowledge an alert, select one or more alerts and click Acknowledge. Once an alert is acknowledged, the Select checkbox is disabled. The Select checkbox for the alert will also be disabled if you do not have at least OPER privilege on that target.
