The Targets Down page provides a summary of all the targets that are down or unavailable. This page provides a good starting point for analyzing the cause of the problem.
On the Targets Down page, you can:
Access overview information about the target by clicking the name of the target to access the target's home page.
Acknowledge an alert, thus indicating that an administrator has looked at the alert. Acknowledging an alert stops all further notifications for the alert and also stops repeat e-mail notifications, if enabled.
Analyze the information in the Down Since column. This data reports when the target was detected to be down or unavailable.
Access past status and availability information about the target by clicking the message associated with the target. By way of the target's Availability page, you can view the overall history of the target's availability over time. You can also log annotations for other administrators and view the notifications that were sent as a result of the target being unavailable.
Some targets provide the option of restarting the target using the target's home page. For example, depending on why the database went down, you can change the status of the database by clicking Startup on the database home page and providing the needed information.
Other targets can be started by clicking the Administer link on the target's home page.
In addition, you can receive notifications for targets that go down and also set up response actions using the Edit Thresholds page.
To acknowledge an alert, select one or more alerts and click Acknowledge. Once an alert is acknowledged, the Select checkbox is disabled. The Select checkbox for the alert will also be disabled if you do not have at least OPER privilege on that target.
