On the Edit Thresholds page, you can:
Add or edit warning and critical thresholds for metrics.
Define response actions, if you have super user privileges.
Copy thresholds from another target to the current target.
Copy thresholds from a metric snapshot. Use the metric snapshot feature to calculate thresholds based on the target's past performance.
Specify multiple thresholds for some metrics. The metrics for which the Select button is enabled are those metrics for which you can specify multiple thresholds.
Some of these metrics have default thresholds as defined by Oracle. When a metric is evaluated, the value of the metric is compared against the threshold using the comparison operation. You cannot change the comparison operators.
When editing a threshold, choose values that are acceptable for a typical workload. If you know that a target is under load, avoid choosing a low threshold to avoid a large number of alerts from being generated.
The following table provides descriptions of the listed fields.
|
Field |
Description |
|
Warning and Critical Thresholds |
Can reflect default recommendations by Oracle, defined by a snapshot, or can be changed. |
|
Response Action |
An operating system command or script executed by the Oracle Management Agent when a metric reaches its warning or critical threshold. The Response Action must include a fully-qualified path (for example, /private/jsmith) and must be accessible to the Management Agent. Only administrators with super user privileges can type text in the Response Action field. Otherwise, the field is read-only. |
