Use the Alert History page to view a bar graph that depicts the chronological history of an alert. The graph shows the point in time when the alert was triggered. Depending on the context of the Alert History page, the alert could represent a metric or a target.
The bar graph is a summary of all the alerts for all the metrics associated with that target. Since multiple alerts could happen at the same time, the chart represents the higher severity.
For example, the Alert History for a host target might have a bar graph for Filesystem Space Available (%). Two alerts were triggered at the same time:
Critical alert for /private at 8:30 a.m. lasting until 8:50 a.m.
Warning alert for /private1 at 8:20 a.m. lasting until 8:40 a.m.
The chart will show two colors for the time period between 8:20 a.m. and 8:50 a.m.:
8:20 to 8:30 a.m. is yellow for warning
8:30 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. is red for critical
Note: If the Alert History page is a drill-down from a target home page, each bar graph summarizes all the alerts for one metric. If the Alert History page is a drill-down from a group home page, each bar graph summarizes all the alerts for one target in the group.
The Alert History page for a target will only display metrics that have alerts.
The Alert History page for a group will only display targets that have alerts.
When you click the bar chart on the Alert History page, either the Status History page for that metric appears or the metric object Alert History page appears.
Clicking Alert History on a Group home page (in contrast to Database Group home page and Host Group home page) displays a table listing the targets and bar graphs representing the alerts for those targets. Click the bar chart to go to the Alert History page for that target (displaying the metric that is causing the alert). Click the target name to go to the target's home page.
In addition to yellow (warning alert) and red (critical alert), gray means that no data was collected for that period of time. Green means there were no alerts for that period of time.
To get additional information about each metric, click the name of the metric to access the Metric Detail page for that metric. For additional help in interpreting the metric data, click Help for assistance on that metric's Metric Detail page.
