Use the Advanced Settings page to define additional metric settings not editable from the Metric Thresholds page. On this page, you can:
Define Corrective Actions
Modify Metric Threshold settings
Specify removal of User-Defined Metrics from template destination targets.
Set Monitoring Template Override
Corrective Actions are tasks that automatically run when the metric is in warning and/or critical alert severity. You can set Corrective Actions for both Warning and Critical severities. Click Add to create a Corrective Action for each severity.
In addition to setting Warning and Critical thresholds, you can set the Number of Occurrences. This parameter allows you define the alert "sensitivity" by permitting metric data sampling over a period of time. This prevents sporadic "spikes" in collected data from triggering an alert. Specifically, the metric has to cross its warning or critical threshold for a consecutive number of evaluation cycles (equivalent to the number of occurrences) before a warning/critical alert is sent.
If you want to remove user-defined metrics that have already been applied to destination targets, check Mark for Deletion (only available for host-based and single cell user-defined metrics). When the template is applied to these targets, the user-defined metric will be removed. However, the user-defined metric will not be removed if the Prevent metric settings on this page from being changed when a monitoring template is applied to the target (Template Override) option has been set for a user-defined metric.
A user-defined metric that is marked for deletion will be deleted when the template is applied to the target(s) only if the following criteria is met:
A user-defined metric with the same name exists on both the destination target and template.
The return type (String, Numeric) of the user-defined metric is the same on both the destination target and template.
The metric type (Host/SQL user-defined metric, Single Cell/Two-column user-defined metric) is the same on both the destination target and the template.
