Assignments page

Use this page to monitor and configure the images that you have assigned to the hardware servers.

The activity wherein you select an image, or a suite of images and provision (or apply) them on respective harware targets, is termed as an Assignment. Linux Provisioning facilitates the creation of assignments. An ssignment typically is a selection of an Image (or Suite) and the required network component that will be applied no the selected Hosts (or hardware targets).

Unlike other provisioning tools, Oracle Linux Provisioning, when you submit a job, will remove all the existing components for the specified hardware target, and replace them with the components that are part of the selected Image. This helps in maintaining a consistency and control of the software components, across an enterprise.

Note: Once you create the required assignments, the "ready" assignments must then be provisioned. When you submit the provisioning job, the targets and images that you have selected for that assignment will be locked. While you will still be able to modify the network components, and directives, the selected images, and targets will remain unchanged.

Usage Tips

You can view a list of existing assignments based on the status of assignments .

In the View drop-down list, select the required value to view the assignments that are in that status (or category). For example, ready assignments, scheduled assignments, and so on.

You can also perform a search for the required assignments by clicking Advanced Search.

You can also create a new assignment from here, by clicking Create New Assignment. The page that is displayed, will take you through a step-by-step creation wizard to help complete the process.

To provision a ready assignment, select that assignment, and click Provision Ready Assignment.
