Best Practices in Using Policies

Here are some suggestions of how to best use the policy information.

Address targets that have the lowest compliance scores.
Study the security-related violations first. Non-compliance of these policy rules can greatly impact the security of your enterprise.
Determine the policy violations in your enterprise configuration by looking at the All Targets Policy Violations section on the Enterprise Manager Grid Control Home page. Click the number next to each type of violation to access the Policy Violations page for that type of violation.
Navigate to the Policy Violations page and, using the Advanced Search option, enter an appropriate value in the “Most Recent Violation within” n days filter.
For a particular target, navigate to that target's home page. (Click any subtab from the Targets tab.) Study the information in the Policy Violations section. Click Policy Trend Overview to determine if there are any new violations since the last time you checked this target.
