You can use Enterprise Manager to simplify the staging and application of Oracle patches and patchsets and to provide critical patch advisories.
Before you begin using the patching features of Enterprise Manager, you must specify your OracleMetaLink credentials. After you specify OracleMetaLink credentials, the RefreshFromMetalink job will run successfully. This Enterprise Manager job searches for Oracle patches that interest you at OracleMetaLink and obtains current Oracle critical patch advisories information. By default, the job is scheduled to run daily. For overview information about patching, see About Patching.
To specify your OracleMetaLink credentials to enable patching features:
Click Setup at the top of an Oracle Enterprise Manager page.
On the Setup page, click Patching Setup.
Enterprise Manager displays the Patching Setup page. Click Help for more information about specifying your OracleMetaLink credentials and starting the RefreshFromMetalink job, which enables Enterprise Manager to search for patches and critical patch advisory information at OracleMetaLink.
