Creating Directories in Automatic Storage Management

You can use Automatic Storage Management to simplify database administration. ASM directly manages potentially thousands of Oracle database files. It does this by enabling you to create disk groups, which are comprised of disks and the files that reside on them.

You can use Automatic Storage Management to create a hierarchical directory structure for alias names for ASM files. You can later rename or drop a directory.

You can view the performance of the current ASM instance using the following steps:

Navigate to the Automatic Storage Management Home page for the ASM instance.
Choose the Administration tab.
Click on the disk group for which you want to create a directory.
Choose the Files tab on the Disk Group property page.
Select the parent directory under which you want to create the new directory and choose Create Directory.
