Cloning a Database

You can use the Enterprise Manager Clone Database wizard to clone an Oracle database instance to an existing Oracle home. After you have an Oracle database instance in a known state (for example, you've configured it, tuned it, and tested it), you may want to clone that database to another existing Oracle home. For more conceptual information and an introduction to the features of the Clone Database tool, see About Cloning.

Note: You must clone a database into an existing Oracle home. For an introduction to the Clone Oracle Home tool, see About Cloning.

To clone an Oracle database:

  1. Navigate to the Database Home page for the database you want to clone and then choose the Data Movement tab. Under Move Database Files, choose Clone Database.

  2. The Clone Database tool launches. If you started the Clone Database tool from the database Data Movement tab, that database is selected in the Clone Database tool.

Click Help for information on any page of the Clone Database tool.
