Use this page to create and configure a database service name. You can use this page to rename the Database Service Name.
The following table lists some of the fields and sections to which you should pay close attention:

| Service Name or System Identifier (SID) | The service name is defined during database creation. If you are unsure what the service name is, ask the Database Administrator who created the database. | |

| Address Protocol | Add at least one address protocol to be used for connections to the service. | For more information, see Adding Net Service Name Addresses. |
| Connect-time Failover and Client Load Balancing | Select an option for Connect-time Failover and Client Load Balancing. Connect-time failover enables clients to connect to another listener if the initial connection to the first listener fails. The number of listener protocol addresses determines how many listeners are tried. Without connect-time failover, Oracle Net attempts a connection with only one listener. |
