Create/Edit Listener - Logging and Tracing Page

Use this page to log the activity of a listener, to trace problems, and to aid in their resolution.

Listener Logging

Logging enables you to gather and analyze network usage statistics, as well as information indicating the following:

To log the activity of a listener, select Logging Enabled, then enter the full path where you want to store the log file, and click OK.

Listener Tracing

Tracing produces a detailed sequence of statements that describe network events as they happen. Tracing an operation enables you to obtain more information on the internal operations of the components of Oracle net services than is provided in a log file. This information is logged that can be evaluated to identify the events that led to an error.

To trace the activity of a listener, select Tracing Enabled, then select the required level of tracing. Enter the full path where you want to store the trace file, and click OK.

For more information, see the chapter "Configuring and Administering the Listener" in the Oracle Net Services Administrator's Guide.
