The Compare Database Objects wizard guides you through the process of selecting and comparing two sets of database object definitions. The object definitions can be selected from the current database definitions or from baselines created earlier with the Create Dictionary Baseline option. You can also use this wizard to schedule a future dictionary comparison job.
Use this page to specify the following:
The name of the dictionary comparison.
The data source of the left side of the comparison. This can be either a database or a captured baseline.
Each dictionary comparison created by a single owner must have a unique name.
If you select a baseline version as the source, you can specify the version in one of several ways:
A specific version number, such as 1, 2, or 3. Every time the comparison is run, this baseline version will be used as the source.
The latest baseline version. Every time the comparison is run, the most recent (highest numbered) baseline version will be used as the source.
Select Capture first before compare to capture the latest baseline version before comparing it to the other source. This ensures that the baseline is captured as close in time as possible to the comparison.
The baseline version that precedes the latest version. Every time the comparison is run, the baseline version that precedes the latest version will be used as the source.
