System: Home Page

Use the System Home page to:

The System Home page enables you to quickly view key information about members of a system, eliminating the need to navigate to individual member targets to check on availability and performance. You can view the entire system on a single screen and drill down to obtain further details. The rolled up numbers include alerts and violations for all members including those in nested systems.

The page contains the following sections:

Section

Description

Status

Shows how many member targets are in up, down, and unknown states. For nested systems, this section shows how many targets are in up, down, and unknown states across all its sub-systems. The status roll up count is based on the unique member targets across all sub-systems. Consequently, even if a target appears more than once in sub-systems, it is counted only once in status roll ups.

Click on a portion of the pie chart or its corresponding legend to go to the Member Status page.

Click Status History to go to the Status History page, which shows bar graphs that depict a historical view of the system members during a specified time period.

Alerts

Shows the number of outstanding critical, warning, and error alerts associated with this system. For nested systems, this section shows how many targets are in in an alert state across all its sub-systems. The status roll up count is based on the unique member targets across all sub-systems. Consequently, even if a target appears more than once in sub-systems, its alerts are counted only once in alert roll ups.

Click on a number in the Current column to go to the Status Report page, which shows a summary table with alert messages.

Click Alert History to go to the Alert History page. The bar graphs on the page depict the chronological history of the alerts for the members in the system. Each bar graph is a summary of all the alerts for all the metrics associated with that target type.

For more information on alerts, see About Alerts.

Policy Violations

Shows how many of your system members do not comply with Enterprise Manager policy rules. Non-compliant members are indicated with the number of critical, warning, and informational policy violations.

The Current column value represents the number of violations, whereas the Distinct Rules Violated column represents the number of unique policies that have been violated. Because a given policy can result in multiple violations, these numbers can be different. For example, the Open Ports policy can identify 10 ports that are open. In this case, the Current column number would be 10, and the Distinct Rules Violated number would be 1.

Click on the number for a particular severity level in either the Current column or the Distinct Rules Violated column to go to the Policy Violations page for the selected severity level, or click the Total number to display the policy violations for all severity levels. Click Policy Trend Overview to go to the Policy Trend Overview page. By comparing the compliance scores over a period of time, you can decide the course of action needed to improve the policy violation trend.

For more information about policy violations, see Managing Policy Violations.

Security Policy Violations

Shows how many of your system members do not comply with Enterprise Manager security policy rules. Non-compliant members are indicated with the number of critical, warning, and informational security policy violations.

Click on the number for a particular severity level in either the Current column or the Distinct Rules Violated column to go to the Policy Violations page for the selected severity level, or click the Total number to display the policy violations for all severity levels. Click on Security At a Glance to go to the Security At a Glance page for an overview of the security health of the enterprise for this system, especially the critical security patches that have not been applied.

Critical Patch Advisories

Shows the total number of Oracle critical patch advisories (including one or more critical patches) that are applicable to your
enterprise, and the number of Oracle homes in your enterprise to which those patches should be applied.

If your Oracle MetaLink Credentials are not configured, click Not Configured to go to the Patching Setup page. After you configure this page, Enterprise Manager collects information about Oracle critical patch advisories that are relevant to your enterprise.

For an overview of critical patch advisories, see About Critical Patch Advisories.

Configuration Changes

Shows a summary of the changes for the last 7 days grouped by high-level configuration categories. Sub-categories under the high-level categories represent the types of targets.

Click a number in the Changes column to go to the Configuration History page for the selected category type. The Configuration History page shows history information about the member category, such as the date and time when the change was discovered, and the type of change.
