Use the Configure Adaptive Thresholds page to:
Consider the following guidelines as you edit the baseline alert parameters.
Threshold Based on Significance Level represents statistical significance. Alerts are generated if the significance level of an observation is at or above the level you select.
Threshold Based on Percentage of Maximum represents the percentage of the trimmed maximum. A trimmed maximum is a representative higher value after outliers (exceptionally high values) have been eliminated. Percentage-of-maximum-based alerts are generated if the observation is at or above the percentage of maximum you specify.
For instance, If the trimmed maximum during a time group is 1000, and if 105 is specified as the parameter, then values above 1050 (during the same time group) will trip the alert. That is, 105% of 1000 = 1050.
The Warning Level and Critical Level values control the type of alert to be generated. For example, when the threshold type is based on Significance Level, Extreme (meaning extremely significant, statistically speaking) means that the value exceeds the estimated 99.99th percentile. When the threshold type is Percentage of Maximum, the number 110 would mean 110 percent of the trimmed maximum.
The Occurrences parameter indicates how many consecutive occurrences must happen before generating the alert.
For the threshold action choices, preserving prior thresholds allows alerts on insufficient data, and unsetting alert thresholds suppresses alerts on insufficient data. Alerts thresholds are unset when they have null values. The agent does not generate an alert for an unset threshold.
