Create Service Test: General Page

This wizard allows you to define a service that can be used to monitor a business process or application. Use this page to specify the general information for this service:

Select a name and time zone for a new generic service. The data that is being monitored by the service is displayed in the selected time zone.

Note: You cannot change the name once it has been defined.

If you select the System Time Zone, the time zone of the underlying system will be used to run the service. Select the system that is to be associated with the service.

Note: You cannot change the Time Zone once it is selected here.

For Web applications, you need to specify the Homepage URL property. The homepage URL identifies the main page users will access when they use this particular Web application.

Usage Tips

Consider the following guidelines as you review this page.

If the underlying system that hosts the service has not been defined in Enterprise Manager, you need to create this system before creating the service.
While selecting a system for the service, specify the underlying key system components that will determine the performance and availability of the service.
Associating a system with a service is not mandatory but it is recommended. Features like Root Cause Analysis depend on key system components being correctly defined.
