Use this page to specify the method to be used to determine the availability of the service. Availability can be based on either of the following:
Service Test Based Availability - A service test models a critical functionality based on a particular protocol, such as DNS or HTTP Ping. If you select this option, availability is based on the test or successful execution of the service test. You can define one or more service tests using standard protocols and designate one or more service tests as "Key Tests". These key tests can be executed by one or more "Key Beacons" in different geographical locations. A service is considered available if the key tests can be executed successfully by one or more key beacons. Additionally beacons also collect response time metrics as a result of executing the service test. These additional metrics are listed in Collected Metrics section at the bottom of the page.
If the availability is based on a service test, you can select the following options:
All key service tests are successful. This option is recommended.
At least one key service test is successful.
If the service availability is based on the availability of underlying system components, make sure you have created that system first in Enterprise Manager.
If availability is to be based on a system, you need to specify the key components that are critical to running the service. You also need to specify if all key components need to be up in order for the service to be considered available, or if it is sufficiently that at least one key component is up in order for the service to be considered available.
