Aggregate Service Home Page

Aggregate services consist of one or more services, called subservices. A subservice is any service created in Enterprise Manager Grid Control. The availability, performance, and usage for the aggregate service depend on the availability, performance, and usage for the individual subservices comprising the service. Refer to About Services for more information on aggregate services.

Use this page to get an overview of the availability, performance, and usage of your aggregate service.

Monitoring

This page contains the following sections:

Section Description
General

In this section, you can:

  • Get current availability status and availability (%) over the last 24 hours.

  • Get quick overview of performance and usage for the aggregate service, as indicated by their status icons. If either of the icons are red, there are performance or usage issues.

  • Monitor actual service level and see whether or not they meet expected service levels.

  • Black out the service in order to perform maintenance. See About Blackouts.

  • Drill down to the availability and service level statistics. The Service Level Details page displays the overall service level as well as any violations.

Subservices

Lists the subservices that comprise the aggregate service. Click on a service or system name, status, policy violation, or alert to get more detailed information.

Alerts Lists all the alerts for the aggregate service and its subservices in detail, including message, timestamp, and more.

Root Cause Analysis

If your service has a Down status, this page will display the Possible Causes of Service Failure table. Causes of failure may be either key components of the system on which the service runs, or another service. Timestamp information is given for each error message, along with target name and type.

Refer to About Root Cause Analysis for more information.
