Use this page to assign hardware servers to the selected Image. When you assign hardware servers to images, you are actually creating assignments for these activities. A job is triggered when you finish creating the assignment. You can monitor the job status by going to the Jobs page on the Grid Control console. See About Jobs for more information on Jobs.
On this page you must specify an appropriate assignment Name and Description.
The following table describes the input fields on this page.
| Page Elements | Description |
|---|---|
| New Network | Specify a Network component for the new image. Alternatively, click Select to view a list of existing network components, and select the appropriate component. |
| Reset Timeout | This is the time that you set for the hardware server to come up and establish connections with the OMS, after it has been rebooted. The default value is 50 minutes. You can delete this value and specify an appropriate reset timeout value. Note: You cannot specify a value that is less than 5 minutes. After the image has been staged on to the staging server, the hardware servers that are being provisioned with this image will be rebooted. The application will then start installing the Linux operating system and the Management Agent. The time span that you specify here is the time in which you expect the installation to be complete and the Linux OS and the Management Agent to come up. If the agent fails to start communications with the associated OMS within this time span, the target will be moved to an error state. To resolve this issue, you can try to re-provision the image. |
| Boot Server | Select an appropriate boot server to be used for this provisioning assignment. The boot servers that are listed here are the ones that have been configured by the administrator (on the Administration tab). |
| Staging Server | Select an appropriate staging server. You can select from the list of staging servers that have been configured by the Administrator. |
| Staging Server Credentials | The staging server credentials are required to access the staging server. This is the server on which the selected image will be staged before starting the provisioning activity. You can choose to use the preferred credentials or override these credentials. If you choose to override the preferred credentials, you must specify the appropriate username and password for that staging server. See Managing Preferred Credentials for more information on setting up the preferred credentials. |
| Edit Assignment Properties | Click this button to edit the assignment properties. Here, you can add or delete the selected Image property values. |
| Add Hardware Servers to Provision | Click Add to select the hardware servers that you want to assign to this image. Here, you can assign multiple hardware servers to the selected image. |
To assign hardare to the selected images:
Specify appropriate values in all the fields.
Select the hardware servers that you want to provision.
You can choose to add any number of hardware servers to be provisioned.
Note: The hardware servers that you assign to a Single-Server Image type will be independent of each other, although they have the same image running on them. But, the hardware servers that you assign to an Image Cluster will not only run this image on each machine, but also communicate with each other as they would be part of a cluster (group).
To delete a hardware server from the list, select that hardware server, and click Remove.
To modify the properties of a hardware server, select that server and click Edit Properties.
Click Finish to save the changes you have made to the selected assignment.
