Edit Component: Upload File Page

Use this page to modify the uploading details for the component content file.

Components of type Redhat Linux OS, and some generic components require a file to be uploaded for them, while all the "cloning" and the "OS" components the required file (s) is uploaded as a result of a job which is fired when component creation is completed. This job prepares the binary from the specified properties and finally uploads it for this component.

For a generic component, you may want to upload a file explicitly or through a job. The file can be uploaded in the "Upload File" step of the creation wizard or while editing the component.

If you are uploading the file using the Upload File wizard, the upload happens from the local machine. In this case, you must select the appropriate file and click Save or Next to start the upload.

The file upload through a job, is done from the agent machine. Here, you must give the credentials of the agent machine and select appropriate file on that machine. The difference in this upload mechanism is that the actual upload will happen only as a result of a file upload job, which is triggered when you click Finish in the component creation wizard.

Usage Tips

During the component creation process, if you have chosen to upload the content file at a later time, you can change that and select the appropriate source location of the file for upload.

Typically, you would choose to upload the file at a later time, only if the content file is not available or if you still want to work on the file before associating it with the new component.

You can also change the source host and the file name from here.
