Use this page to extend the selected cluster by increasing its node size.
The Hardware Servers to Provision section on this page allows you to add more nodes (hardware servers) to this cluster.
When you add/remove nodes to an already provisioned cluster, this will be treated a new assignment and a "job" for this activity will be triggered. You can go to the Jobs page on the Grid Control console to view the job status. See About Jobs for more information on Jobs.
Note: You can add nodes only to the clusters that are in the provisioned state.
On this page, you can also modify the selected cluster configuration details including the network component, boot server, staging server, and the staging server credentials.
The following table briefly describes the input fields on this page.
| Page Elements | Description |
|---|---|
| New Network | Specify a network component for the new image. Alternatively, click Select to view a list of existing network components and select the appropriate component. |
| Reset Timeout | This is the time that you set for the hardware server to come up and establish connections with the OMS after it has been rebooted. The default value that is populated is 50 minutes. You can delete this value and specify an appropriate reset timeout value. Note: You cannot specify a value that is less than 5 minutes. After the image has been staged on to the staging server, the hardware servers that are being provisioned with this image will be rebooted. The application will then start installing the Linux operating system and the Management Agent. The time span that you specify here, is the time in which you expect the installation to be complete and the Linux OS and the Management Agent to come up. If the agent fails to start communicating with the associated OMS within this time span, the target will be moved to an "error" state. To resolve this issue, you can try to re-provision the image. |
| Boot Server | Select an appropriate boot server to be used for this provisioning assignment. The boot servers that are listed here, are the ones that have been configured by the administrator (on the Administration tab). |
| Staging Server | Select an appropriate staging server. You can select from the list of staging servers that have been configured by the administrator. |
| Staging Server Credentials | The staging server credentials are required to access the staging server. This is the server on which the selected Image will be staged before starting the provisioning activity. You can choose to use the preferred credentials or override these credentials. If you choose to override the preferred credentials, you must specify the appropriate username and password for that staging server. |
| Edit Assignment Properties | Click this button to edit the assignment properties. Here, you can add or delete the selected Image property values. |
| Add Hardware Servers to Provision | Click Add to select the hardware servers that you want to provision. |
To add a new node:
Modify the cluster configuration properties, as required.
Select the hardware servers that you want to provision. You can choose to add any number of hardware servers to be provisioned.
To delete a hardware server from the list, select that hardware server and click Remove.
to modify the properties of a hardware server, select that server and click Edit Properties.
Click Finish to create the new assignment.
