Choose Default Image Page

Use this page to select the appropriate image that you want to establish as the default image.

When a new hardware server (bare-metal machine) is connected to the enterprise network and is booted for the first time via PXE (network boot protocol), this machine is automatically provisioned with the default image. When this hardware server comes up with the default image, you can use the Provisioning application to re-provision this machine with an image that meets your requirements.

The default image is made up of a minimum set of software components that are required to provision any Linux machine, for example, ssh, rpm, sudo, kernel, etc.

Usage Tips

On this page, you can perform a search for the required default image based on the image versions. These options are described in the table below.

Parameters Description
Latest Version Search for latest version of all available images. This will retrieve the current version of all images irrespective of their status (that is active or inactive.)
Latest Active Version This search is a combination of version and status. This will retrieve the current version of all images that are in the active state only.
Latest Mature Version This search is a combination of version, maturity value, and status. It will retrieve the current version of all images that are in the active state and have the highest maturity value (production.)
All Mature Verisons This search is a combination of maturity values and status. It will retrieve images of all versions that are active, and have the highest maturity value (production.)
All Inactive Versions This search will retrieve images of all versions that are inactive only.
  1. Select the appropriate parameter in the View drop-down list and click Go.

  2. All the images that match the parameter you selected will be displayed in the search results table.

  3. Select the appropriate default image and click OK.

Note: The list of RedHat Linux default images that are displayed will be the ones you had created earlier from the Images tab under the Provisioning application.
