Administration: Add Network Configuration Page

Use this page to add a new network configuration. This is different from a network profile, in that the network configuration that you add here is always associated with a network profile.

The network configuration with the set of IP Addresses that you add will be used by the Provisioning application at the time of provisioning the Linux Operating System on the selected hardware servers.

The IP addresses and Ranges that you specify here, serve as a resource pool from which you can pick up an IP Address for individual/group of hardware servers at the time of provisioning.

Usage Tips

To add a network configuration:

  1. Specify a name for the new network configuration that you are adding.

  2. Specify the appropriate domain name that this network configuration will be associated with.

  3. Specify a valid Subnet Mask for the network that this configuration should be associated with.

  4. Specify the required Gateway Addresses. You can specify comma-separated addresses. The gateways addresses that you specify will help connect to external networks.

  5. Specify appropriate DNS Servers for the network configuration. You can enter comma-separated DNS Servers.

Note: All the above-mentioned fields are mandatory.

The Individual IP Addresses section allows you to add IP addresses to individual hosts. Click Add Another Row if you want to add more records.

The IP Addresses Ranges section helps you to specify a host name pattern, and the required IP Address range (First and Last IP Address.) The Start Value refers to the starting value of the host name in the pattern that you have specified. For example, if the hostname pattern is abc-{00} and you have specified the start value to be "1", then at the time of staging, the placeholder ({00}) will be replaced with the initial value (01) and this value will get incremented with every host that is being provisioned.

Note: You must specify at least one Individual IP Address or one Range Entry. It is not mandatory to have entries in both the tables.

Specifying IP Address Ranges would be most suited when you have to provision numerous machines within the enterprise.

Note: When creating a new network configuration, the IP Addresses that you specify are in the Inactive state. Retain this state if you want to make edits to the IP Addresses or the resource pool. At the time of provisioning, ensure you select only those IP addresses that are in the Ready state (or change the state to Ready before selecting.) The IP addresses that have already been used will also be listed here, but as read-only records.
