Use this page to add to new image and establish it as a default image. You must have created the required images from under the Images tab, in the Provisioning application.
The Default Image is made up of a minimum set of software components (for example, ssh, rpm, sudo, kernel, etc.) that are required to provision any Linux machine. It will also include the default directives (staging, pre-install, install, post-install, and cleanup), and a disk layout.
In this page, you must specify the configuration details for the new default image, including the Prefix to it (IP address), a network profile, and an appropriate image (one that you have already created from under the Images tab).
Note: While you can install additional software on the machines that are provisioned with the default image, this is not recommended, unless you continue to keep the default image updated with the latest patches, as and when they are made available by the vendors. A recommended alternative is to create another image with an OS that is configured appropriately to run the required software components.
To add a Default Image:
In the Network Profile field, click Select to view a list of the network profiles in the look-up window that is displayed and select the required profile.
Similarly, in the Image field, click Select to view the list of existing images in the look-up window and select the required Image.
In the Boot Server field, click Add to associate a boot server to the new default image that you are creating.
Note: Before you start adding a default image, ensure the boot server, staging server, and network profiles are already configured. For more information, see About Administration Tasks.
