Clone Oracle Home: Database Product Settings Page

Use this page to configure the product settings for the new database cluster clone.

You must have selected Source is Clustered Home in the Source Settings page to get here. The Product Settings page displays the database that you have selected to clone, the source host name, and the source Oracle home location.

Note: This page is displayed only if the selected source is a RAC (version 10.1 or 10.2) or Oracle Clusterware (version 10.2) Oracle home.

Click the following links to check their Database Product Setting parameters:

Database Cluster (RAC)

Before you proceed with the Database Cluster (RAC) cloning operation, ensure the following pre-requisites are met:

  1. You have setup the Grid Control properly to manage the source and target hosts.

  2. You have a valid source Oracle home with read / write privileges.

  3. You have a Central Agent (10.2 or above) monitoring all the destination hosts.

  4. You have Oracle Clusterware already installed on the destination nodes.

  5. You must have all destination nodes on the same Oracle Clusterware cluster for a successful RAC setup.

If the source database instance is part of a cluster by default, Enterprise Manager displays all the existing nodes of that source cluster.

Cluster Cloning Modes

The Cluster Cloning Modes section of this page provides you the option of either cloning the source home as a new clustered home, or treat it as an extension of the source cluster.

Clone to a New Cluster

If you want to clone the source Oracle home as a new cluster, select this option, and specify the following:

Clone to a New Cluster Description
New Oracle Home Location Specify complete path to the new Oracle home location.
New Oracle Home Name Specify the new Oracle home name.

Extend the Source Cluster

If you want to extend the source cluster by joining the new Oracle home clone to it, select this option, and specify the Existing Member Nodes of the source cluster. Use commas (,) to separate the node entries.

By default, all the existing member nodes are displayed. If some of the member node entries are missing, you must specify such node entries in the Existing Member Nodes field.

Specify the name of the source cluster in the Source Cluster Name field.

Note: The cluster Oracle home location and name will not change when you are extending a cluster, since all the members of the source cluster must have identical homes. You can specify a different Oracle home name and location, if you are creating a new cluster.

Target Node Selection

This section allows you to select the hosts in which you want to clone the source cluster.

Select the required host and enter the appropriate node name.

Note: The node name is populated by default when you select the host. Typically, the node name is the same as the host name. For example, if the host name is "stada31.us.oracle.com", the node name will be "stada31". But, if the node name that is populated is incorrect, you can change it.

To select multiple hosts, click Add Another Row. Select the required Host and enter the node name.

Oracle Clusterware

Before you proceed with the Clusterware cloning, ensure the following pre-requisites have been met:

  1. You have setup the Grid Control properly to manage the source and target hosts.

  2. You have a valid source Oracle home with read / write privileges.

  3. You have a Central Agent (10.2 or above) monitoring all the destination hosts.

  4. You have not installed Oracle Clusterware on any of the destination nodes.

Now, you can choose from the following two cluster cloning modes:

Clone to New Cluster

To clone the source cluster to a new clustered home, select Clone to New Cluster and specify the following:

To Clone a New Cluster Description
New Oracle Home Location Full path to the new Oracle Home location.
New Oracle Home Name

Appropriate Oracle home name.

New Cluster Name Appropriate Cluster name.
OCR Location Full path to the Oracle Cluster Registry location.
VDisk Location Full path to the VDisk (voting disk) location.

Extend the Source Cluster

To extend the source cluster with this cloned home, select this option, and specify the following:

To Extend a Source Cluster Description
Existing Member Nodes All the existing nodes for the source cluster will be displayed.
Source Cluster Name Specify the source cluster name.

Destination Node Specification

Specify the destination host name, and the appropriate Public node name. Alternatively, click the "flashlight" icon to view the list of hosts in the look-up window that is displayed, and select the required host.

For each node that you add, you must specify the Private Node and VIP values. Private node or private IP is an address that can be accessed only within a particular Subnet. VIP (virtual IP) is configured in the Ethernet of the system and is used for public access.

Click Add Another Row to provide another node specification. You can add as many node specifications to the cluster, as required.

Important: When you are extending the source cluster, ensure that all the destination nodes are in the same cluster as the source node.
