There may be a few situations wherein problems in the environment or configuration cause problems in the collection of metric information. If this occurs, Enterprise Manager signals this behavior through the use of metric collection errors.
The Metric Collection Errors page provides information about problems collecting the value of a monitored metric. Examples of possible problems are:
Could not login to DB service
Missing target configuration properties. (The Error Details page, accessed by clicking the error message, gives a complete list of the missing properties.)
To further investigate the target in question:
Click the message associated with the target in the Metric Collection Errors page. The Metric Error message should contain enough context to tell you how to fix the problem (one such message might be "Contact your EM administrator").
Access the target by clicking the Target tab.
Errors might be due to installation or configuration issues.
Metric collection errors might be due to an improperly specified target (for example a bad OracleHome property value).
Other errors might be due to errors in installation of the Oracle Management Agent.
In most cases, to resolve the metric collection error alert state, you must reconfigure the target.
One way to fix target property configuration is to access the Management Agent home page of the Management Agent monitoring the target. Select the target, click Configure, provide updated information on the Properties page. Note: This method is available to those who have appropriate roles and privileges.
